CCR Script

My CCR script is finished! After brainstorming, I responded to each question as thoroughly and specifically as I could. I incorporated examples from other films, as well as shots and pictures from my own film process to make the CCR's entertaining.

CCR creation

My CCR's are in progress. For one of them, I'm doing a slideshow on Canva with a voiceover. I'm minimizing the number of words on the slides but am in the midst of the official script. I am also incorporating several photos and graphics to make the presentation engaging. I'll include clips from my film to cut to as well.

For my second video, I'm creating a video of myself answering "Google's most asked questions" about my film. I'll have a poster with the questions, the last portion of the question covered by a piece of paper I will peel off. Some clips from the film and background information will be incorporated.

Group Meeting

The group meeting went well! I enjoyed hearing about others' projects and where they are in the process. I also liked sharing my information and ideas, like my CCR creation. They liked the idea about the "Most asked questions" video since it's also popular on YouTube. This is an example:

I'll be creating a unique poster with my questions and also incorporating clips from my film, other films in my genre (Interstellar and Day After Tomorrow), and citing sources through screen recording the site. I look forward to filming this portion since perfecting the poster took some time.

Filming reflection

My film opening relied on "in the moment" occurrences. I wanted my shots to feel intimate with nature and its' wildlife. Thankfully this went very well as I was able to capture multiple special moments. Sneak peak of some of my favorite shots:

Changes

I wanted to end my film opening with me walking into a building, slightly on a cliff hanger. However, the building at the location was locked so this was not possible. This is how the shot was going to appear.

However, I decided to take a different approach for the ending. Instead of walking into the building, I walk to the fencing behind me and glance towards the water. It's clear I'm contemplating something, but the opening doesn't tell the audience specifically what. Also, it's implied that an important aspect of the film will happen next.

Post Production

My filming is done! Everything went smoothly. I was able to take shots of creatures I saw in the moment, which I think will intensify the whole opening. I got extremely lucky capturing them on video clearly since I couldn't "plan" on what I was going to see. These shots were all real and in the moment. Here are some examples.

Title Ideas

The title of my film is an obstacle. I have several ideas but am struggling to narrow it down to one. Each have their own significance and intention behind them.

  1. Last wilderness
  2. Earthkeeper
  3. Walk with the wild
  4. Green savior
  5. The good, the bad, the green

Scene Development

As the world becomes increasingly aware of the impact that humans have on the environment, the role of environmentalists has become more important than ever. This short film tells the story of an environmentalist's journey through a forest, as they strive to make a difference and protect the natural world around them.
The film opens with an establishing shot of the trail, with the sound of birds and wildlife in the background. As the camera zooms in, the protagonist is seen walking, carrying a backpack and wearing sturdy boots. They are determined, scanning the ground for signs of wildlife and taking notes in a notebook.
The first scene is set to establish the character and their purpose. It is important to show the audience that the character is passionate about their cause and is well-prepared for the journey ahead. The use of natural sounds helps to create a sense of immersion for the viewer.
As they travel deeper into the forest, the character's journey becomes more spiritual and introspective. They begin to appreciate the beauty of the natural world around them, and the fragility of the ecosystems they are striving to protect. They admire the oak trees and marsh. The character notices waste on the ground and begins picking it up, appearing disappointed with humans.

As the camera pulls back to show the whole forest, we see that this is just one small part of a much larger effort to protect the natural world. The character's journey through the trails is one small step, but it is an important one in her attempts to preserve the environment.

Representation

My film opening reflects the issue of climate change and the importance of environmental conservation. It highlights the devastating effects of human activity on the environment and the urgent need to take action to preserve it. The story also showcases the resilience and determination of individuals who are committed to making a positive change.

The cinematography is another highlight. The visuals of the forest and its wildlife are captured to create a sense of awe and wonder. The use of natural light and sound further enhances the film's immersive experience. Some photos of the shooting location:

The screenplay is thought-provoking and inspires audiences to take action to protect the environment. It showcases the beauty of the natural world and the urgent need for action.

Lighting

Filming outside is inevitably an obstacle. Sunlight can cause issues with shadows, exposure, and shaping. I was aware of this entering my production. However, I know lighting is a crucial aspect to have an appealing film. To obtain the best natural lighting, I have to film at an extremely specific time. Planning around the sun's position is a process that can be unreliable and difficult. Filming right before sunset or right after sunrise are two of the best times. Here are some other tips I learned.
  • Direct light= No dimension
  • Position actor to make the most of natural light
  • Mirrors to redirect sunlight
  • Sun behind actor= less contrast on face
  • Do not overexpose bright areas
  • Shaded areas
The video below taught me numerous tips and ideas to achieve the best lighting outdoors.

CCR Lesson

Today we learned about the creative critical reflection and the variety of options we have to choose from for the blog. One of my products is going to be a presentation with a voiceover. I'm going to have multiple visuals to showcase within the sideshow. I want to include photos of the location I'm filming, behind the scenes, and original canva graphics.

I'm still brainstorming for my second product, since I want it to be more unique. I would prefer to have it reflect my film.

Foley Sounds

The sounds I incorporate will be entirely outdoor and environmental. Each of them will be meticulously created for the best possible effect.

-Birds

-Leaves crunch (Boots stepping on piles of leaves)

-Wind (Squeezing air out of a ziploc bag)

-Water splashing (Pebbles throw into pond)

-Bee buzzing

-Tree branches (Shaking branches, leaves)

-Crickets chirping
